
San Vicente, Palawan — U.S. service members, together with their local Philippine counterparts conducted a joint medical mission on Wednesday, March 9 at the Covered Gym, Purok Masigla, Barangay Port Barton.
A total of 460 residents availed of the health services provided during the medical mission of which 249 availed of medical consultation and check-up, 70 for dental services, 49 for COVID-19 Vaccination, 39 Circumcision and 53 women availed of Implanon Insertion. Aside from the health services, anti-hypertensive and diabetic maintenance medications; maintenance medications to patients with mental health issues were distributed for free.

The medical mission is a joint program of United States Civil Military Support Element, DOH-Palawan, Palawan Dental Chapter, LGU-San Vicente, RHU-San Vicente, Port Barton Barangay Health Station, San Vicente District Hospital, PCG Special Operations Group-Palawan, Philippine Marines, and Barangay Government of Port Barton.
Mayor Amy Roa Alvarez, the town’s local chief executive expressed her deep gratitude to the good Samaritans behind the said medical mission. “Malugod pong sinuportahan ng ating Lokal na Pamahalaan ang “Kapit Bisig Patungo sa Isang Layunin – MEDICAL CIVIC ACTION PROGRAM”… Dito ay nagkaroon ng pagkakataon ang ating mga kababayan na mapasuri ang kalagayan ng kanilang kalusugan” Mayor Alvarez said in tagalog.

Among the personalities present during the activity were Coast Guard District Palawan Commander – Commodore Angel Z. Viliran, Special Operation Group-Palawan LTJG Jonathan L. Morante, CPT, Philippine Marines 33rd Company OIC Mark Joseph Zuniega, and US Civil Military Support Elements Phillip Mendoza, Richard Hinman, Linton Pitluga, and Carleton Swartz.
