Through the aspiration to facilitate the needs of its constituents, the Municipal Government of San Vicente purchased five (5) rescue vehicles amounting to Php 8,125,000.00 that will be used for the augmentation of emergency response, disaster and relief operation capabilities of its 10 barangays.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDDRMC) Chair and Mayor Amy Roa Alvarez convened the Council on August 26, 2020 to discuss and resolve the issue on the lack of disaster and emergency response capabilities of the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGU) in the municipality. According to Mr. Estoya, the MDRRMC approved the realignment of a portion of the MDRRMO’s Trust Fund for the procurement of five (5) rescue 4×4 pickup trucks in the current year for the use of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
On November 27, 2020, the five (5) )rescue vehicles have arrived, together with one (1) rescue vehicle of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) intended for the women and children operations. At about 2:00 in the afternoon of the same day, the turnover and blessing ceremonies took place in front of the LGU executive building, attended by some of the Members of the Council; Mitsubishi Company; and Rev. Fr. Nilo Ibuyan.
The remaining vehicles are expected to arrive in 2021.
